Salon Azul
The Think Tank

Where the thinking happens.

The think tank is the center of Salon Azul. Everything else the firm does — the capital it commits and the counsel it provides — begins in rooms like these.

The Salons

Small rooms. Serious questions.

Several times a year — at the firm's own rooms in Casco Viejo, Panama, and at private facilities in Costa Rica, Switzerland, and Singapore — we convene small salons: thought leaders from across the world — practitioners, technologists, financiers, veterans of government and mission — gathered off the record around a single question.

Some questions belong to our clients. Some belong to the practice itself. All are chosen because the answer matters and does not yet exist.

Lines of Inquiry

Few questions, held for years.

Why national digital programs fail, and what sequencing survives politics. How institutions absorb technology without being deformed by it. Which technologies are becoming critical to national sovereignty and institutional mission — and who should own them. And how physical and digital assets are made to serve a single strategy.

The Paper

The Long Transformation.

The firm sets its thinking down in a single working paper: The Long Transformation — on why digital transformation succeeds and fails in states and global institutions. It is written for principals, and circulated rather than posted.
